RecycleKits
AERC's Pre-paid Return Program offers a comprehensive recycling service for commercial, institutional, municipal, and governmental waste generators. Our services are competitive, cost-effective, and compliant with all federal, state, and local Regulations
Why Recycle?
- Mercury is a toxic metal that is hazardous to both the environment and human health.
- An ounce of mercury contaminates a lake for centuries.
- 100 fluorescent lamps contain approximately 4 grams of mercury.
- Ballasts contain polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's) which is a hazardous waste.
- Batteries contain heavy metals and corrosive components.
- Computer monitors contain toxic lead in the glass and circuits.
How to Get Started
Order your Recycle Kit from the RecycleKits website (www.recyclekit.com) or through your AERC representative. You will need to know what quantities of the specific material you will be recycling.
Prepayment includes recycling fees, container and FedEx freight. Certificates of Recycling and Process available upon request. AERC offers comprehensive recycling service for commercial, institutional, municipal, and government waste generators.- Put the material you're recycling into the designed container and follow the packaging instructions. Complete the enclosed labels and affix the prepaid shipping labels to the container. FedEx Ground will not accept any package with a PPRP label that has been changed, altered or tampered with in any way.
- Give this package to the FedEx Ground driver during a routine delivery. Do not call FedEx Ground for a pickup if you are already set up for daily pick-ups. If you are not set-up for daily pick-ups you will need to call FedEx Ground as (888)777-6040 to schedule a pick-up.
AERC Recycles Your Waste AERC recycles your waste at one of its four fully permitted facilities. After your waste has been processed, a Certificate of Recycling or Process can be provided upon request.
Universal Waste Rule (UWR)
The EPA issued the UWR in 1995 to reduce the amount of hazardous waste items entering municipal solid waste. It encourages recycling and proper disposal of certain wastes. Regulatory and administrative burdens for managing wastes were also streamlined. Numerous states have moved forward with the inclusion of electronic scrap (e-scrap) into the UWR. In addition, numerous states have banned monitors from landfills.
